Welcome back

Hi welcome back to my blog. This term is the first term of 2020 and and I am going to tell you about something that I did in the Christmas holidays. Every Christmas holidays me, my family and our closest family Friends drive to Kaiteriteri. This year we stayed for 11 days and it was so fun. When we got there it was raining so we had to stay inside our tents. Unfortunately when it started raining again me and my friend where in the kitchen tent so to avoided getting the tents wet on the inside we had to wait there for the rain to stop. The proper day in Kaiteriteri it was sunny so we all went down to the beach. The water was so warm and nice to swim in.  The next day we went to Takaka. It was really fun. We went to the park and had pizza for lunch. Then we went to a watering hole and swam there before going home. There where lots of cool places that we also went while we where there and the hole trip was fun but  Unfortunately we had to pack up and go home. On the way home we stopped at Pelorus so that was not so bad. That was my favourite thing I did in the holidays I will now tell you about the hopes I have for this year. One of them is to make centrals again and to do better that I did. Another one is to get faster at getting my work done and to keep completing my work to a high standard. I look forward to athletes so I can try get to centrals again and I also look forward to leadership groups.
What do you look forward to?

Pool day

Hi, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be telling you about pool day. Week 7 of term 4 Friday my hub and the year 5-6 hub went to pool day. When we got there we had to put on sunscreen first and then we where allowed in the pool. I thought that the water was freezing and wished that the sun would come out and the wind would stop. The water got a little warmer when I played in it for a little longer with my friends but ended up getting out for food sooner than I had imagined. After that I got back into the water for a little bit but couldn't stop shriving so I got out for the rest of the day. It was actually quite nice just sitting on my towel reading because I didn't have to worry about anything I could just relax. I thought that pool day was fun and hope that I can do something like that again.

Haiku

Hi, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be showing you my Haiku. A Haiku is a poem that has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second line and 5 again in the last line.  You can do as many  verses as you like in it but you still have to stick to the syllable rule. by the way a syllable is the sounds of the letters that make up the word. An example of syllables are Is a bell a I have 4 syllables in my name but people with the name like Leo only have one. I will now show you my poem.

That was my poem hope you enjoyed reading it. Have you done any sort of poem before and if so what type?

Top Team

Hi, In this blog post I will be telling you about top team. Friday of week 6 term 4 a group of people from Top Team came to our school and set out mini games and challenges that where run by volunteers from our school. We got into teams based on our camp activity groups and got handed a peace of paper to show us where we where going.

The first activity that we did was one where we where versing  another team and we had a cut open pipe and a ball about the size of a tennis ball. We had to get the ball into a bucket down the other end of the line as many times as we could rolling the ball down the pipes with out dropping the ball and with out using you hands.
Then we did an activity against another team but this time we had a sling shot, bean bags, a bucket and our hands. 3 people when down one end and used the sling shot well the rest of the group went down the other end and tried to catch the flying bean bags and put them in the bucket.
We then moved on to our least favourite activity. There was a big peace of red fabric and blue fabric. They looked like huge hair ties except a lot wider and less thick.  We had to get in them and try to move them down to the other end and back as many times as possible with out touching the ground with our feat or our hands and if you did then you had to restart.
Then we moved on to a fun game. It was a big game of noughts and crosses.  There was a big fabric board with squares so it looked like what you would use to play noughts and crosses. You where then given big X's or O's and had to race them  into the spots that you wanted them to go before the other team. It was quite fun.
Then we did a game that we where not so good at. We where given hula hopes and we had to throw them and try to get them on poles to get points. We had no luck with the game but we laughed a lot and had fun.
We then went to one of our favourite games. There was a big peace of fabric with squares on it like the noughts and crosses board.  We lined up and had to try to find the secret path hidden on it by trying to step on different squares. If you got the right square then you got to try again and continue the path but if you got it wrong then you had to go to the back of the line and the person behind you had to continue on from where you where.
Then we moved onto building towers.  We had to build the tallest tower that we could using blocks. It was fun but I really wanted to go to the water activates. We had to try to build the tallest tower out of all the groups that had been before us.
Finely the time had come for us to do the water activities. The first one was where we had to block holes in a pipe and pore water down it and try to get a tennis ball to the top. It was fun but I kept getting spayed in the face.
The second one was called Water Bus. You had to fill up a container and then tip it directly behind you into the other persons container. I got water dumped on me by my friend Tremaine. Here is the link to his blog.
We then moved onto a dry activity. It was one where you and 3 other people had to go into a blue sack and try to get it down to the other end and then swap and the other four people got in. You had to try to do that as many times as possible. We where ok at that one but we needed a lot more practise.
Then we moved on to an activity that we where quite good at. You had to put your feat into strips of fabric that where attached to large ski like pieces of wood.  You had one foot on one piece of wood and one on the other piece of wood. Then you had to move with the other people in the group to get down to the other end of the line and get the last person over the finish line before the other teem.
The last one that we did was one where we had 4 mini mazes that two people had to carry each. We also had a ping pong ball and we had to get the ball through the maze to a hole at the end and then drop it down into the other persons maze until you reached a bucket you then had to get the ball in the bucket and start going down the other way.
Over all the day was soooo fun and I hope I get to do it again.  Have you done Top Team?

Sport

Hi, welcome to my blog.  Today I will be sharing with you what I did for sport every Thursday for 2 weeks.  The school deiced to let the hubs have a try at 4 different types of sport.
cricket
lawn bowls
Korfball
soft ball
Two of these sports I had never played or herd of. Can you guess which ones? (  lawn bowls and korfball). I was most excited to play lawn bowls because I wanted to try it out and it sounded fun to me. My home base did cricket first tho. I found it kinda fun but I had a hard time bowling and hitting the ball. Then we did korfball. I found that korfball was actually really fun. it was like a mix of net ball and basket ball with some of its own rules. Next I did lawn bowls. It was super fun and I really want to do it again.  The first thing we did was that the instituter taught us how to bowl the ball . Then we played a little game. For the game we where split into two teems. The purple teem and the green teem. ( I was on the green teem) then we took turns to bowl the ball and try to get it in a hula hoop. ( 5 hula hoop where set out in the middle of a circle that my home base made) Then once one teem had bowled the balls the other teem had to try to knock the balls out of the hula hoops to stop the other teem getting points. Then we got into teems of 3 or 4 and did some activity's with the balls.  I have not done soft ball yet but will update this post when I have. Over all I found the sports amazing and I hope we get to do it again.
Have you done any of these sports before?
