Hi, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be showing you my reading task for this week. The goal for this week is: Visualise using all of the senses, and talk about how this enriches meaning.
We had to read a text then draw what when saw when reading the text.
If the text was too small this is what is said.
The Text
Far away from here, following the Jade River, there was once a black mountain that cut into the sky like a jagged piece of rough metal. The villagers called it Fruitless Mountain because nothing grew on it and birds and animals did not rest there.Crowded in the corner of where Fruitless Mountain and the Jade River met was a village that was a shade of faded brown. This was because the land around the village was hard and poor. To coax rice out of the stubborn land, the
fields had to be flooded with water. The villagers had to tramp in the mud, bending and stooping and planting day after day. Working in the mud so much made it spread everywhere and the hot sun dried it onto their clothes and hair and homes. Over time, everything in the village had become the dull color of dried mud.
That was my create task. Have you read the book: Where the mountain meets the moon.

Maths
Hi, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be showing you my maths task for this week. The two goals for the maths workshop this week are: Identify and describe 2D and 3D shapes using mathematical language. For my create task I had shapes and I had to categorise them.

Another goal that I did was: Represent objects with drawings and models.
for the create task I had to make these shapes with multilink cubes
Then I had to put them all together to create a cube. This was the end result.
For the final question I had to make a cube but this time make different shapes that go together to make the cube. We had to draw these on isometric paper.
This is what I did.
That was my create tasks. Do you know some of the shapes on the blue sheat? or can you tell me another way to create the cube?

Volume & Area
Hi, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be showing you my maths task for this
week. The two goals for the maths workshop this week are: Use side or edge lengths to find the volumes of cuboids
and
Use a variety of strategies to calculate the area of rectangles,
parallelograms, and triangles. My create task is a how to about how to find the area and volume of shapes.
If you cant see the create task because it it too small here is the link

That was my create task for this week. A quick question before you go, Peter
has a piece of string that is 30 cm long. He thinks that all the rectangles he
makes all have the same area. What do you think? Tell me in the comments. (
the answer is below)
Answer
They are not all the same. Why? well, say you have a triangle that is 1cm high
and the width is 14cm. 14cmx1cm=14cm
Then you have a different triangle that is 3cm high and the width is 13cm.
3cmx13cm=39cm-rembring that all all measurements are squared when working out
area.
So not all triangles that made with string 30cm long have the same area.
Please tell me what answer you got.

The curtain of darkness was pulled away
Hi, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be showing you my writing create task for this week. For writing the goal was: use language features specific to the purpose of the text. For my create task we had to make and write down some examples of language features specific to the purpose of the text.
That was my create task. Do you know any other use language features?
How to be normal
Hi, welcome back to my blog. This week my reading goal was: Synthesising - Think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking. If you don't know Synthesising is changing and adding onto our thinking when reading. For our reading task we had to read the title of a book and then look at some of the pictures and in the first box write down what we thought the story was going to be about. Then in the second box we had to write down how our thinking had changed halfway through the story, and in the last box we had to write down our thinking at the end of the story.

That was my reading task. Do you think that you Synthesise when reading?
