Genetic modification of humans

Hi, this week for P.B.L we did some research about the genetic modification of humans, (Designer babies). My group was against  this happening, and these are our points to show why Designer babies should not be made.

P.B.L driving question

Hi,  This term the driving question is what will the future ask of us.  So far we have explored 5 problems in the world today, what jobs robots will potentially takeover, the difference between a robot and a human and what quality's will be needed and valued in the future.  We then watched a video of the first robot citizen ( Sophia ) sing on a show. My 5 Problems in the world where: Global warming, Animal endangerment, War and World hunger and some of the differences between a robot and a human is that humans can build relationships that are much stronger and better than a robots and, we eat, sleep, drink and die. Robots are not that much different to humans tho so we never know for sure if robots can do the same things as us.

Some of the quality's that I think will be valued in the further will be : adaptability, reliability, creativeness and a strong work ethic.  I think that it is incredible that we have a robot citizen but I also this is a little bit scary for many reasons.  Most of the jobs that are more repetitive, will be taken over by robots first.  That means that jobs like: McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's will have robots working for them first.  All jobs are safe for now but you never know what the future holds.

The day after

Hi, today is the day after our going live day and I am going to tell you how it went.   When I first came into school it was like a normal day. I went to put my bag away and then played with my Friends. When the bell rang well that's when things started. The teachers called the roll and when you heard your name you went over to the hall where we would be preforming.  The teachers then told us that we needed to be quiet and taught us how to connect to the equipment.  Then the people that were not preforming First went back to the hub.  When the first group of people where done then it was my tern.  I was soooooooooooo nervous and almost cried (I was much better in the later show). When I had finished I felt much better and was even looking forward to doing my next show I enjoyed going live and hope that we do something like it next term.  This is the link for my recording Link  .  Would you like to go live?

Portrait art

Hi, this week we have been doing portrait art on google drawings. How we did this was we first took a picture of us and inserted it onto google drawings then using a pollyline tool we outlined the biggest part of our head, our face. We then went on to do our hair then our shoulders and finally the smaller features of our face. The hardest part to do was the nose because it keeped trying to connect the lines and it wouldn't let me finish outlining the nose.  I found this art fun but at the same time it was a little bit annoying because the situation with the nose.  I will now share with you my art.

Diana Isaac Experience

Hi, This term groups of people from kaupeka have been going to Diana Isaac to do things such as cooking, balloon sport's, bingo, art or coding.  I when to Diana Isaac I went to go do cooking and in my group I had my Friend Makayla.  Diana Isaac is when people at the age or 65 or over go to retire.  When we got there we where so surprised that a retirement home could look so nice. When we got to reception a lady showed us where we would be doing our cooking. On our way there we past a pantry full of candy, hairdresser and a massage room. We where sooooooo jealous. When we got to one of the many kitchens where we would be doing our cooking we thought a birthday party was going on because the ceiling was decorated with balloons and streamers. It turns out that the room is always like that. ( So Cool) anyway we where baking chocolate chip cookies. After we had finished baking the cookies we when back to school and went home.

Going Live

Hi, this term as you probably already know our driving question is how can we speak up against discrimination. If you know that then you probably know that we are going live on the 3 of July doing: podcasts, dramas, poetry slams or ted talks. We are doing the podcasts, dramas, poetry slams or ted talks on a type of discrimination such as: Sexism, racism, ageism, ableism etc. I am doing a podcast on Sexism with my friend. This is an invitation I made to invite people to come to our show.
